Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp plotting late £300,000 swoop for Motherwell ace Ben Heneghan
Brum manager considering bringing Scottish Premiership star to St Andrew's as he tries to bolster his Championship side before Thursday's transfer deadline
HARRY REDKNAPP is considering a late swoop for Motherwell defender Ben Heneghan.
The Blues boss has been overhauling his squad and ex-Everton and Stoke kid Heneghan is understood to be on his shortlist as a bargain option.
But Redknapp may need to fight off competition with Norwich also in the frame.
While Bristol City too have shown interest, though a potential move from the Robins depends on the future of in-demand centre-back Aden Flint.
Heneghan, 23, impressed last term as he helped Well preserve their Scottish Premiership status.
He would be available for a cut-price fee of £300,000 due to one year remaining on his contract.
Well spotted the centre-half’s talents while he was plying his trade at Chester.
The England C international made 81 appearances and scored six times for the non-league side.

Heneghan only moved north of the border last summer.
But he played 41 times last season and his performances have not gone unnoticed.
Redknapp will likely use him as a replacement for Ryan Shotton.
The experienced ace had been told that he would not be allowed to exit St Andrew’s until a replacement could be found.
Redknapp confirmed: “We've done a deal with Boro, Ryan wants to go, but we're looking for a replacement.”
