LEICESTER CITY have rejected an offer from Crystal Palace for winger Demarai Gray to be used in a swap deal with Andros Townsend.

The Foxes are believed to be interested in signing former Spurs man Townsend, but baulked at the £27million asking price.

The London club are then believed to have asked for Gray and cash in exchange for Townsend.

Both wingers are struggling for game time at their respective clubs, but there might be a few eyebrows raised if Leicester allow one of their brightest talents to leave.

Gray starred for England U21s in this summer's European Championship as Aidy Boothroyd's side reached the semi-finals.

And many will have expected this to spur him on to a first-team spot for Craig Shakespeare's Premier League troops.

For Townsend meanwhile, it's not been plain sailing under new Eagles boss Frank de Boer.

He was used as a wing-back during pre-season, but failed to convince de Boer that he could play there.

The England international has got the chance to play in his favoured winger position of late due to an injury to Wilfried Zaha, but could well find himself benched when the Ivory Coast man is back.

It could be a busy few days of transfer activity for Leicester as a number of clubs are eyeing their top players.

Manchester United are believed to be interested in winger Riyad Mahrez who has handed in a transfer request, but so far a suitable offer has not been received for the Algerian.
