Man City chiefs ‘already in Chile to negotiate with Alexis Sanchez over four-year deal worth £10.8m a year’

Arsenal striker at centre of transfer tug of war between Etihad side and others is on brink of move

MANCHESTER CITY chiefs are already in Chile to negotiate with Alexis Sanchez over a four-year deal worth £10.8million a year, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly fuming with the frontman after the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.

And some Gunners stars are apparently happy to see the striker leave because he is souring the mood at the club.

Sanchez is believed to have asked Chile bosses if he could leave the national side for 24 hours to carry out "other commitments".

He was in training with Jorge Sampaoli's men yesterday.

But his plans could alter with the claim that City bosses are in Santiago to finalise a transfer, according to emol.com.

That report should be read with a note of caution, however.

Emol also cite Raheem Sterling as being part of the move in a cash-plus-player offer.

But Pep Guardiola's side have ruled out the possibility of allowing the England winger to leave.

Front of Wenger's mind must be the worry that Sanchez could leave for free next summer.

Wenger has maintained that his star man is not for sale and previously said it was “ideal” he – and others at the club – have only one year left on their contracts.

Kieran Gibbs today sealed a £7m move to West Brom and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain appears destined for Liverpool.
