Couldn't be Mour easy

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could be forgiven for sitting back and chuckling like a Bond villain as his rivals descend into chaos

Already in 2017-18, there's been chaos at Arsenal, unrest behind the scenes at Chelsea and Liverpool’s main man pushing to go

JOSE MOURINHO could be forgiven for sitting back with his feet up on his desk and smoking a big cigar.

Chuckling to himself like a Bond villain as he sees his plan come together while all around there is chaos.

Chaos at Arsenal, unrest behind the scenes at Chelsea, Liverpool’s main man pushing to go...

Yes Jurgen Klopp’s men won 4-0 on Sunday, but come on it was only Arsenal.

Meanwhile Manchester City have already dropped points and needed a winner deep into injury time to beat Bournemouth last weekend, after a late goal to grab a share of the points at home to Everton.

Their greatest ever player Sergio Aguero, will not be happy at finding himself dropped to the bench at Bournemouth and was also involved in an altercation with a steward.

Meanwhile at last season’s runners-up Tottenham there is clearly unrest among the players at how much they are paid compared to opponents further down the league.

Danny Rose spoke out exclusively in SunSport attacking Spurs wages and their failure to land big players to improve on last season’s squad.

At the same time they have lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

On the pitch it’s not much better as a team that finished third two seasons ago, and second in May appear to be going backwards – just four points from the first 12 available.

So Manchester United are not just bridging the gap on those who finished above them last season, they have already taken giant strides over them.

Mourinho’s work has long been done, his squad in place, pre-season went to very much to plan.

His team have shot out the blocks like their most famous fan Usain Bolt who was present at Old Trafford before the international break to witness the Red Devils make it three wins out of three with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City.

The United boss landed two of his three transfer targets before they had even landed in Los Angeles for their pre-season with Viktor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku joining the rest of the squad.

He then hit the jackpot by not only getting the defensive midfielder he wanted, but from the Champions and his former club Chelsea with the arrival of Nemanja Matic.

Heads are still being scratched at both clubs as to how that one happened.

True he wanted one more player, but no complaints, happy, work mostly done.

While his managerial counterparts continue to juggle things as the deadline approaches tomorrow, Mourinho is simply looking ahead to the next task in hand – the trip to Stoke a week on Saturday.

Tough trip as ever but if Mark Hughes men want to get physical they might want to have a look across the tunnel before they appear at the bet365 stadium.

After that it is Everton at home, Southampton away and Crystal Palace at home before they travel to meet Liverpool at Anfield on October 14.

None of those fixtures are a given of course but you would not be surprised to see United make it six out of six before the big showdown with their historic rivals.

Mourinho will not be getting carried away, but you can forgive the fans if they are.
