Any deal that fails to get over the line before the deadline will rumble on, with talk continuing until the winter window swings back open.

Our friends at Football Whispers have picked out 11 transfer rumours that won’t go away until January at the earliest...

Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona

WITHOUT Coutinho, Barcelona are still looking for their new star and heir to Andres Iniesta’s throne.

A lot will depend on who Liverpool sign in January. Replace him and they could be willing to let the midfielder go.

If the Catalan side are struggling under Ernesto Valverde it could make their desire even greater and push them closer to the Reds’ asking price.

Ten of the best-ever Premier League deadline day signings

Fabinho to Paris Saint-Germain

DESPITE signing Neymar from Barcelona and possibly Kylian Mbappe from Monaco this summer, Paris Saint-Germain are still missing the midfielder they want to improve their system.

The Parisians need a right-sided option in their three-man midfield, and Fabinho is the perfect fit.

Unai Emery may have to wait until the winter to convince the champions to do business with them again.

Thomas Lemar to Liverpool

AN Arsenal transfer target at one stage, Liverpool have announced their intention to sign Lemar this summer.

Monaco are holding on to their midfielder despite the Reds’ interest, but they won’t be put off from a future move.

The Ligue 1 side need their left-footed weapon and moving next summer would give them time to find a replacement.

Ivan Perisic to Manchester United

YOU don’t spend all summer pursuing a target just to give it up at the first attempt.

Until Jose Mourinho signs an alternative, Perisic will continue to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

If Inter Milan aren’t contenders for Champions League football come January, the Croatian could be persuaded to move to the Premier League.

Emre Can to Juventus

THE German midfielder is out of contract next summer and until he signs a new deal with Liverpool his future will be subject of speculation.

Juventus are keen admirers and, rather than lose him on a free, eventually the Merseyside club may be forced to sell the former Bayern Munich prospect.

He will be allowed to speak to the Serie A holders about a pre-contract in January.

Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool

SOUTHAMPTON are playing hardball over Virgil van Dijk, but he remains subject of Liverpool transfer rumours.

The Reds desperately need to sign a new centre-back and as long as he is a Saints player, Klopp will be interested.

If someone else seals a move for the Dutch defender, they will have to move on to other targets but, until then, Liverpool won’t give up – even after being reported for tapping up earlier in the summer.

Antoine Griezmann to Man United

AT the start of the summer, Griezmann was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

His €100million release clause seemed expensive, but just a few months later it feels like a bargain.

As soon as the Spanish side can sign players again, Griezmann will be on the market.

Angel Di Maria to Barcelona

AFTER Neymar arrived at PSG several players were put on notice as the Parisians look to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions.

Angel Di Maria is one such player.

The Argentine forward is up for sale at the right price and with Barcelona moving on from the Brazilian superstar, the former United flop could be the addition to boost their campaign.

Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City

THE Chilean striker wants out at Arsenal, but he may have to wait a little later for his escape.

Out of contract in 2018, interest from Manchester City isn’t going to disappear and Pep Guardiola may tempt the Gunners with an offer for Sanchez this winter.

Arsenal turned down an offer of £50m plus Raheem Sterling on Tuesday with Gunners coach Wenger keen on Sergio Aguero as part of the deal.

Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid

ATLETICO MADRID are confident they can get a deal over the line to sign Diego Costa from Chelsea.

Although they won’t be able to register of play the striker, they want him in place for January and the Spain international wants released from his situation at Stamford Bridge.

If they can’t complete a deal before the Spanish transfer window closes on Friday, Atleti will almost definitely come back for him next year.

Gareth Bale to Man United

THE rise of Isco and Marco Asensio has put pressure on Gareth Bale, with Alvaro Morata gone too, Bale will have a chance to win his place back in Zinedine Zidane’s squad.

However, with every game and poor performance, rumours of a return to England are only going to grow.

Mourinho is a fan of the Welshman, which should ensure this one rumbles on.
