Everton make season-long loan bid for Lucas Perez as Newcastle pull out of race for Arsenal ace
However, the out-of-favour Spanish forward remains keen on a permanent move to his old club Deportivo La Coruna
EVERTON have approached Arsenal about taking misfit Spanish striker Lucas Perez on loan.
The Gunners are believed to be considering the offer that would see the 28-year-old join the Merseyside outfit until the end of the season.
Although Arsenal prefer to sell Perez, they could well entertain the prospect of getting him out the door to free up some wages, as well as not keep an unhappy player in an increasingly split camp.
However, Perez remains intent on a move back to his former club Deportivo La Coruna.
The Gunners have been demanding £13million for the striker who they bought from the Spanish side for £17m last summer.
Perez failed to impress during his maiden campaign in the Premier League.
He only started four times after Christmas in his debut season.
And he has not started a game since the FA Cup win at Sutton in February.

Perez’s last appearance for the club came way back in March when he came off the bench against Lincoln in quarter-final.
Arsenal wanted a fee at least over the £10m mark but have now changed their stance and will allow him a temporary switch.
However, that won't be to Newcastle, after the Magpies pulled the plug on any move to bring Perez to St James' Park.
The Shields Gazette reports that the club "had enquired about the Arsenal striker" but that he is "keen to return to his former club".
