Chelsea cancel contract of Loic Remy allowing French striker to join Spanish side Las Palmas

The 30-year-old joined the Blues for £10.5m in September 2014 from QPR but consistently struggled with injury

CHELSEA have cancelled Loic Remy's contract allowing the French striker to join Spanish outfit Las Palmas on a free.

The 30-year-old has not even featured in Antonio Conte's matchday squads for the opening two games of the Premier League season, and the London club have decided to cut their losses.

Remy joined Chelsea for £10.5million from QPR back in September 2014, but injuries and a drastic loss of form meant he never established himself at Stamford Bridge.

He was loaned to Crystal Palace last season, but never hit it off there either, making only eight appearances.

He failed to score during his time at Selhurst Park.

Remy made the 25-man travelling party for Chelsea's pre-season tour of China and Singapore but has been sidelined since.

He has played for Lyon, Lens, Nice and Marseille in his homeland.

Remy also impressed during a spell at Newcastle when on loan from QPR.

He netted 14 times for the Magpies in 24 league starts in the 2013/2014 season.

At Chelsea he was named as a substitute 29 times and started just 15 times in all competitions.

Along the way he has netted 12 goals.
