Monaco star Thomas Lemar ‘only has eyes for Liverpool after snubbing £92m Arsenal deal’
Arsene Wenger watched the winger bag a brace for France against Holland then read the bad news in the French newspapers
THOMAS LEMAR will snub Arsenal again and target a Liverpool transfer in the next window, according to reports in France.
Despite claiming Paul Pogba’s £89million move to Manchester United in 2016 was “completely crazy”, Arsene Wenger bid £92m for the Monaco man this week.
L’Equipe claim the France ace – who scored twice in his nation’s 4-0 World Cup qualifier win over Holland on Thursday – blanked the Gunners as he only has eyes for Anfield.
The fact Arsenal have dropped out of the Champions League and instead face tedious European trips to Crvena Zvezda in Bosnia, Koln in Germany and BATE in Belarus, probably guided his choice.
Liverpool were interested in Lemar but their ability to snap up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for just £40m – from a direct Premier League rival no less – made that a better option.
Speaking after his international brace, Lemar said: “I am a Monaco player and I am very happy there.
“Now I am going to go and have a good season with my club, try to keep progressing and advancing in my career.
Wenger was in the stands to watch his No1 target destroy the Dutch and it must have been painful for the Gunners boss to see.

Lemar wasted no time crying over his failure to secure a switch to England as he showed his admirers exactly what he is capable of.
It was Lemar’s first goal and France’s second that lit up the ground as he produced a rocket to double his side’s advantage.
He unleashed a left foot piledriver on the volley from 20 yards straight into the top corner to leave the French supports delighted.
