David Hasselhoff congratulates Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn after his Wales wonder goal

The Baywatch and Knight Rider acting legend tweets his joy after the teenager's dream debut strike keeps Russia 2018 hopes alive.

BEN WOODBURN was the name on everyone's lips after his stunning Wales debut - and even the Hoff was blown away by his debut strike.

The 17-year-old Liverpool starlet announced himself on the international stage in remarkable fashion on Saturday.

Just seconds after coming off the bench, the teen thundered a blistering strike past the goalkeeper from 30 yards to fire the Welsh to a vital World Cup qualification victory over Austria.

Woodburn, who was something of an unknown before he became Liverpool's youngest-ever goalscorer against Leeds United in the League Cup last November, received a plethora of praise after his worldie.

The global audience were dishing out superlatives all over social media after his effort - but there was one surprise that nobody could have expected.

Among those to be blown away by the drama was none other than Hollywood and TV superstar David Hasselhoff.

The 65-year-old posted on his Twitter account this morning: "Congrats to Wales!! What a game!

And Ben Woodburn! Nice goal!!"

His tweet quickly went viral - but Woodburn could be forgiven for wondering what all the fuss was about.

The actor shot to fame in Knight Rider - but the hit television series came to an end 31 years ago.

And even his decade-long stretch in the popular Baywatch programme was finished just months before Woodburn was born in 1999.

But even still, we are sure his team-mates will be able to tell him all about the Hoff - once they've pulled the youngster back down to earth.

Woodburn and his nation will now be hoping to take another step closer to sealing a spot at Russia 2018 when they travel to Moldova on Tuesday.
