But his national team-mates managed to put a smile on his face as Neymar and himself played a hilarious prank on Canarinho.

Coutinho distracts the unwitting mascot while the world's most expensive player ducks behind him.

The former Inter Milan attacker then pushes the yellow lucky charm over his team-mate before running away from the angry bird.

Canarinho then goes after the two players who can be seen bursting with laughter.

Coutinho has been at the centre of a transfer saga for the majority of the summer as Barca chased him as a replacement for Neymar.

But Liverpool rejected three bids for the player, with the last said to be in the region of £118million plus a number of add-ons.

Coutinho put the speculation to one side on Friday as he scored in the Samba Boys' 2-0 victory over Ecuador.

That win helped seal first place in their World Cup qualification group with three games left to play.

Paulinho - who did manage to join Barcelona in the summer - was also on target in the win.

Brazil face Colombia next who are 11 points behind them in second place.
