Arsene Wenger blasts negative Arsenal fans after ‘accident’ Liverpool hammering

ARSENE WENGER may have lost the dressing room, but he has urged fans not to lose faith and get behind his men ahead of Saturday's fixture.

Arsenal host Bournemouth at the Emirates in their first game since their disappointing defeat at Liverpool.

Their opening game against Leicester was the only game that the Gunners have scored in, since then they have conceded five goals in just two games and currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League.

This year's deadline day certainly won't go down in the club's record books after they failed to sign Monaco's Thomas Lemar and frustrated several of their own players who made it clear they wanted to leave North London.

In spite of this and the evident discontent that fans are showing towards the manager of 21 years, Wenger has called for them to get behind the squad and remember that a month ago they were celebrating a win against Chelsea at Wembley.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS ahead of Saturday's game, Wenger said: "People make their minds up very quickly and forget how good you are-much quicker than you think.

"We must continue to believe in our strengths and not to forget. And our fans as well, to have a successful season we need our fans.

He added that it would be 'stupid' to say that they have given up on the race for the championship.

Wenger acknowledged the frustration felt by fans, he said: "We want out fans to be behind us in this moment even if we are very sorry for what we delivered, but to have a successful team we need to have that."

Morale is not only low with frustrated Arsenal fans, but also amongst the squad with Olivier Giroud saying the team were one to be 'ashamed' of after their thrashing at Anfield.

Wenger acknowledged that Jurgen Klopp's side were in a different league to his, he said: " What we learnt from this defeat is that we were not at all at the level that is expected from us and that we must, very quickly, show that was a complete accident."
