The commentary team apologised for the lack of visual time-keeping.

But that didn't stop Twitter being awash with complaints about the fact there was no clock watching at the Premier League showdown.

Armchair soccer fans threw their hands in the air, aghast at the lack of the timepiece as United attempted to build on their terrific start to the season.

Teza@tezajts joked that 'it could be worse - you could be a Liverpool fan' but others were less than happy about the situation.

Posted Michael@SouthernSofties: 'Are BT Sport charging extra for a clock now?'

While HarryWilson-Shield wrote: 'Bt sports want to be so opposite to sky sports by putting the score board at the bottom and not showing a clock'.

Elsewhere, Andy Tame complained: 'BT Sports, why is there no clock on football! How am I supposed to know how long they've been playing!'

And Mark Bernard moaned: 'What are BT Sport playing at here? No clock in the corner!!!'

Zahid Zafeer seemed really livid. He wrote: 'If BT Sport wasn't free on my Full House bundle - I would have cancelled my subscription. WHY NO LIVE CLOCK?!'

Isaac Seelochan added: 'What is going on with the clock on BT Sport? Are we supposed to guess the time?!'
