Pep Guardiola ‘considering selling’ Vincent Kompany after Man City star’s latest injury setback and is ‘furious’ with captain
Manchester City star has been ruled out with calf injury picked up while on international duty, much to boss' annoyance
PEP GUARDIOLA is reportedly furious with Vincent Kompany and will now consider selling Manchester City’s continually crocked captain.
The Mirror claims that Guardiola’s patience is wearing thin after the ace picked up a calf injury while on international duty with Belgium.
Kompany played the entire 90 minutes as his country thrashed Gibraltar 9-0 during the week despite suffering the problem in his leg.
And Guardiola isn’t best pleased that he will now be out of action as City prepare for the start of their Champions League campaign.
SunSport understands that the Etihad giants have already identified Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld as Kompany’s replacement in defence.
The 28-year-old has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs since joining Spurs from Atletico Madrid in 2015 after a loan spell at Southampton.
Alderweireld is looking to secure a lucrative new contract after his agent issued a demand earlier this month.
The star is also open to joining another ‘top six’ side though and could be tempted by a big-money move to the Etihad.

City’s recent switch to three at the back could even prompt a January raid, with the club just boasting four centre-backs including Kompany.
Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones looked unsteady at times as they were joined by right-back Danilo for Saturday’s 5-0 win over Liverpool, with Eliaquim Mangala left on the bench.
And if Kompany continues to spend more time on the sidelines than the field, Guardiola is sure to urge his board to back him in the transfer market for a new defender.
Jonny Evans also remains a target after City failed with a £25million move for the West Brom captain.
