Eagles crash landed

Crystal Palace have suffered the worst start in Premier League history… but are they all-but relegated already?

CRYSTAL PALACE have no officially got off to the worst start in Premier League history.

Frank De Boer's men were beaten 1-0 away to Burnley on Sunday thanks to an horrific blunder from Lee Chung-yong.

The South Korean midfielder's atrocious back-pass gifted Chris Wood the simplest of chances.

The defeat now means Palace have lost all four of their first Premier League games this season, conceding seven times.

On top of that, the Eagles have failed to score... the only team in history to lose all four games without scoring.

However, Palace are not the first team to lose all four of their opening fixtures - becoming the NINTH team to do so.

The last team to lose their opening four were Southampton in 2013... and they finished the season in 14th.

The bad news for Palace lies with the three teams before Saints to lose their first four clashes.

West Ham in 2011, Portsmouth in 2010 and Sunderland in 2006 all went on to finish dead-last.

Back in 1994, Swindon finished last too after losing their opening handful of fixtures.

In 2002, 1999 and 1998, each season saw one club lose their first four games... and each of them SURVIVED.

Middlesbrough managed to end up 12th, Southampton snuck past in 17th, while Aston Villa incredibly ended-up seventh.

So the equation for Palace now looks simple: History would suggest it's a case of finishing 20th... or surviving.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have also lost all four of their opening league games, while West Ham have lost their first three, playing their fourth on Monday night.
