Wayne Rooney has NOT asked for sympathetic leave from Everton and has NO plans to ask for time off after drink-drive rap
WAYNE ROONEY has NOT asked Everton for 'sympathetic leave', according to reports.
As The Sun on Sunday reported, pregnant wife Coleen Rooney had asked her husband to request time away so they could work on their marriage.
The former England captain is in the dog house after he was arrested on a drink-driving charge while driving the VW Beetle of Laura Simpson following a night out.
He is due in court on September 18.
But, according to Sky Sports, Rooney has not asked manager Ronald Koeman for any time off.
A friend of Coleen told The Sun: "Coleen wants them to get away as a family.
"She thinks it’s important to get away from the area and try and spend some time together — him, her and the kids.
"In the midst of it all they haven’t been able to do that and, to work through their problems, she feels they need to get away.

"She has asked him to speak to his manager Ronald Koeman about having some ‘sympathetic’ leave, but she doesn’t know if he’ll get it.
"There’s another international break next month, so he might have to wait until then.
"He’s in the wrong headspace to play and the pressure is showing.
"If Wayne wants to save his marriage, it’s time to put the football in second place."
The 31-year-old striker returned to Everton after 13 years at Manchester United, where he finished his career as the club's record scorer.
He has scored twice in eight appearances following his return.
Last week Koeman revealed Rooney would be disciplined by the Toffees for his drink-drive arrest.
