Paul Pogba undergoing scans on his hamstring as Manchester United sweat on the results
PAUL POGBA will have a scan today as Manchester United wait anxiously to discover the extent of his hamstring injury.
The stand-in Red Devils captain was forced off just 18 minutes into the Champions League clash with Basel on Tuesday night.
He was spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches after his team-mates had secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Swiss side thanks to goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and another landmark Marcus Rashford strike.
Pogba, 24, will now have his injury assessed by medics to discover whether the damage is a grade one or two tear.
A minor grade one tear could only mean he would be out of action for a few days.
Whereas a two, or even a worse-case grade three tear, could take months to heal.
Early signs suggest that the star is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
And his Old Trafford boss has already confirmed the midfielder will miss the weekend’s clash with Everton.

Speaking on the extent of Pogba's injury following last night's win, Jose Mourinho said: “I don’t know, it looks like a hamstring injury.
“By experience it’s a muscular bigger or small and that could stop him playing for a few weeks.
“The squad are for this. We don’t cry. No Paul for Sunday.
“We have [Ander] Herrera, [Michael] Carrick, [Marouane] Fellaini and [Nemanja] Matic.”
Pogba went in for a challenge and received a kick.
He immediately felt the back of his leg and signalled to the bench that it was serious.
Mourinho ordered his go-to man Fellaini to get stripped and ready for action to signal the end of the night for Pogba.
