Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare admitted the incident was a concerning one.

Shakespeare said: “Christian unfortunately picked up an eye injury in a freak accident with a pole in training.

“It flicked up and hit him in the eye.

“He’s seeing a specialist this afternoon and we’re going to wait and review that and see what comes back.

“It was nasty at the time, it’s cleared up at the moment but until he’s seen the specialist I’d like to hold back and see how he is.

“He’s looked better on Wednesday and Thursday but whether he’s available for Saturday, we’ll see.

“He can see out of it. It closed up straight away and it didn’t look the best but by the time he has come in on Wednesday and Thursday it’s cleared up a bit.”

Leicester are still working on trying to get clearance for £22million midfielder Adrien Silva.

Foxes chiefs have yet to appeal against the FIFA ruling after they got the paperwork in 14 seconds late on deadline day to weeks ago.

The club say it could be made with the next 24 to 48 hours and that ‘the priority is to get the player signed’.

But Shakespeare admitted the player has been allowed into the club’s training group - but he is not allowed to work with the players.

The Leicester boss said: “Unfortunately it’s still an ongoing process.

"He can't train with the group.

“But he has been down to the training ground. You know he was at the game on Saturday. But he's not allowed to train with the group. He has trained with our sports science department.

I’d love to be in a position to be able to say he’s available for selection but as a footballing department we’re just waiting for the legal processes to take place.

“So there’s no further news.

“I don’t have any hold on that and I have to make sure that people have processes to do.

“I’m waiting for an update, which hopefully I’ll get in the next 24 to 48 hours.

"We need to give the process the chance to go along and then see where we are at.”
