A real snub

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to reject Real Madrid in favour of Manchester City switch next summer

Sanchez still has heart set on moving to the Etihad to link up with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola in January or on a free next summer

ARSENAL star Alexis Sanchez will reject Real Madrid and push for a Manchester City switch, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror report Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has put the Gunners hitman on a list of summer transfer targets.

However, the Chilean forward has his heart set on a move to City and a reunion with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

Sanchez, who scored in the Gunners Europa League win against Cologne has made it clear he will not sign a new deal at Arsenal and was desperate to leave during the summer window.

City were confident of getting the forward, but a deal broke down on deadline day as Arsenal claimed they failed to land Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

As far as Sanchez is concerned, it’s a question of when, not if, he moves north to Manchester and could leave next summer for nothing.

Arsenal could feel it will be worth losing their talisman on a free next year, if he helps them get back into the Champions League this season.

Real Madrid are looking for additional firepower after selling Alvaro Morata to Chelsea and losing Karim Benzema for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

There have also been continued doubts over the future of Gareth Bale at the Bernabeu, who has been a target for the Real boo-boys in recent weeks.

Despite three years at bitter rivals Barcelona, Real Madrid still see Sanchez as a viable option in a cut-price deal in January or as a free next summer.
They have also looked at Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
