Everton boss Ronald Koeman to hold crisis talks with top stars after Toffees’ poor start to the season continues

Everton were thrashed by Atalanta 3-0 last night to lose third match in a row and extend winless streak to FIVE games

RONALD KOEMAN admits he will hold crisis talks with senior players following Everton’s embarrassing defeat to Atalanta on Thursday night.

The Toffees were torn apart by a quicker and fitter outfit as they sunk to a 3-0 defeat in their Europa League opener.

Everton have now lost their last three games without scoring a single goal, and are five matches without a win.

Things aren’t going to get any easier when they visit Old Trafford to take on Manchester United this Sunday.

And Koeman has warned his team that it’s time to finally put in a performance as reports suggest there could soon be a change of manager at Goodison Park.

The Dutchman said: “Yesterday was painful. After this press conference, I will have a meeting with the players.

“It is the time for experienced players to stand up. I am worried about what I saw. Yesterday was a wake-up call.

“[Am I worried?] If it is the board of Crystal Palace, maybe not. I am too long in this job to think different.

“I have the experience. I had a bad run at Southampton. We came out of that. I believe that we have the confidence to come out of this.”

And it’s not just Everton fans who are quickly growing tired of their poor run of results, with neutral pundits also desperate to see something change.

BT Sport’s Jermaine Jenas said last night: “I’ve found them really boring to watch, Everton.”

“I don’t think they managed to improve from the performance they put in at the weekend [against Tottenham]. They need to change something.”
