The home side went into the game on the back of league victories over Stoke City and
Derby County.

But they found themselves 2-0 down in 12 minutes.

Buyako Saka grabbed the first after five minutes with a good finish after cutting in from the right.

Seven minutes later Emile Smith-Rowe took advantage of defensive cock-up to find the net from inside the area.

The third came in the 36th minute through James Olayinka.

United sent on Dylan Levitt for the injured Aidan Barlow at the break and the Welsh midfield player made an almost instant impact.

Levitt crossed from the left three minutes into the second half for Nishan Burkart to score at the near post.

In the 68th minute another substitute, D’Mani Bughail Mellor, reduced the deficit to one with a smart finish.

Seven minutes from time Bughail-Mellor was felled in the area and Gomes thumped home the equaliser from the spot.

And, with less than two minutes remaining, yet another sub in Largie Ramazani was fouled as he burst into the area.

Gomes confidently swept the ball past keeper Gunners' Joao Virginia again.
