EUROPE'S elite have been put on alert with Fernandinho still in the dark over his Manchester City future.
The Brazilian, who is out-of-contract next summer, has become a key part of Pep Guardiola's midfield this season.
It is understood the 32-year-old had expected to have signed a new City deal already, having held initial talks.
He can start negotiations with other club's across Europe in January, over penning a deal next year with them.
A number of sides in Spain, Germany, Italy and France have already shown an interest in signing the City captain.
But Fernandinho is now hoping to sit down with Etihad chiefs in the next few weeks over penning fresh terms.
Despite his age, he would like a rolling one-year contract after cementing himself as a fan favourite at the club.
The ex-Shakhtar Donetsk star is on £100,000-a-week, and wants to stay, with City having a strong Brazilian contingent.

A source said: "He is still in the dark a bit, but it is hoped it will all be sorted in the near future as he wants to remain here.
"He is vital to the side, and the main anchor in midfield for Pep. He loves it, and loves having the Brazilian lads around."
He joined City in 2013 from Shakhtar for £34m, and has gone on to make 136 Premier League appearances.
