Liverpool’s dominant teams of the 1980s and 1990s were so sure of getting their hands on trophies, they trained at ‘Wembley’
LIVERPOOL teams of the 1980s and 90s were so sure of winning trophies, they trained at "Wembley", according to Dean Saunders.
The former Reds man claimed the club built a replica pitch at their Melwood training ground, designed to look and play like the North London turf.
The revelation comes just a day after Jurgen Klopp's Anfield crew were dumped out of the Carabao Cup, 2-0 at the hands of Leicester.
Liverpool were the dominant force in European football throughout that era, as they won 11 league titles and seven European Cups between 1971 and 1992.
On top of that, the Reds contested a whopping 28 matches at Wembley during that era... understandably building a replica pitch for practice.
On "Wembley", Saunders said: "Liverpool used to have a pitch at Melwood called Wembley.
"It was only used for Wembley week - they were in a final of everything that often.
"They kept that pitch so the grass was exactly like it was at Wembley.
