Romelu Lukaku has officially enjoyed the best ever start of any Manchester United forward in the Premier League era
WHEN Romelu Lukaku joined Manchester United in the summer in an astonishing £75million deal, it's fair to say there was a weight on his shoulders.
Brought in as the man to lead the Old Trafford line in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the former Everton man could only have dreamt of a start like this.
After six games in the 2017-18 Premier League, Lukaku has scored six times already - having netted the winner in Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton.
In fact, all in all, Lukaku has scored 12 goals in just ten games in all competitions for club and country so far this term.
So strong has the Belgium international been this season, that he has picked up the joint-hottest start to life at Man United in the Premier League era.
Lukaku is level with former French forward Louis Saha in scoring six times in his first six outings, after he managed the feat in 2004.
The unlikely duo lead a list of distinguished Old Trafford legends, including Robin van Persie's 2012 effort - who himself managed five strikes from his opening six games.
A further five players mustered four goals from their first six games, including Dwight Yorke back in 1998 and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 1996.

Ruud van Nistelrooy (2001), Ibrahimovic (2016) and Eric Cantona (1992) all also managed four goals in their first half-dozen games.
Lukaku started his season with a bang as he scored twice in United's 4-0 thumping of West Ham at Old Trafford.
He following that up six days later with a goal in the 4-0 win away at Swansea.
While he drew a blank in the 2-0 home win over Leicester, Lukaku returned from the international break to score a goal in each of the games against Stoke, Everton and, most recently, Southampton.
