Xabi Alonso reveals he is set to become a manager after retiring following 17-year career
Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich legend had an offer to join Carlo Ancelotti's staff.
RETIRED legend Xabi Alonso has revealed he is going to move into management.
The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star enjoyed a glittering career that saw him win four league titles and the Champions League twice - he was also a key part of the dominant Spanish team that won Euro 2008 and 2012 and the 2010 World Cup.
Alonso retired at the end of last season after helping Bayern to a third successive Bundesliga title.
Taking to Instagram, Alonso has revealed he is going into management - although he remained coy on his next job.
He said: "After 17 years in the game, I have considered the next step in my career.
"I have decided to go into management, find out [where] soon."
Speaking back in May, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who managed Alonso for two years at Bayern, said he expected the Spaniard to be a huge success in the hot seat.
Guardiola said: "I was so lucky to have him in Munich.
