Former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel ‘rejects West Ham’ as Slaven Bilic edges closer to sack

Bilic remains under huge pressure with West Ham winning just one game this season

FORMER Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has turned down the chance to manage West Ham, according to reports.

Slaven Bilic remains in his post at the London Stadium but the pressure is almost at breaking point with the Hammers losing again at the weekend to bitter rivals Tottenham.

According to the Daily Mirror, German manager Tuchel was contacted by West Ham to see if he was interested in taking the job.

But the 44-year-old, who was replaced by Peter Bosz at Dortmund in the summer, said no.

Two wins and a draw from the start of September helped ease the pressure on the Croation, but the manner of the 3-2 defeat to Spurs has seen vultures circle above Bilic once again.

The Croatian, who has been linked with the sack since the back end of last season, admitted he is now under constant threat of losing his job.

"It’s part of my job. I know that. Once that [Slaven is in danger] is opened, then it basically doesn’t stop.

"Game by game, or two games by two games, it’s the way it is in modern football. Once you open that page…"

Bilic's current contract ends this season but it is far from certain he will last that long.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner and Slavisa Jokanovic, Fulham's manager, are considered the leading candidates to replace him.
