Liverpool’s woeful shooting means they score just EIGHT per cent of the chances they create

LIVERPOOL'S woeful goalscoring ability has been revealed - with the club converting just EIGHT per cent of the chances they have created this season.

Jurgen Klopp's side have made a stuttering start to the new campaign with their defence coming in for the most criticism.

But the shaky backline is being put under more pressure because Liverpool's shot-shy strikers are doing such a dismal job of finding the back of the net.

They let the team down again on Tuesday night as they squandered a series of opportunities and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Spartak Moscow.

Klopp has assembled a side who have looked threatening in attack, but the harsh reality is they need to create ten chances for every goal they score.

In all competitions this season, the Reds have carved out 181 attempts on goal, but have only found the net 15 times.

That strike rate is a dismal 8.28 per cent - and exposes the alarming lack of a genuine top class finisher in the Anfield squad.

In the Premier League, Liverpool have been frustrated in their attempts to make a great start by the failure to win matches they have dominated.

They have scored 12 goals from the 120 chances created, and unless they find their killer instinct soon it will be too late to keep pace with the title chasers.

In Europe things are even worse, with two disappointing draws from their first two Champions League games making what should be an easy group far more challenging than it should be.

Only three goals have been scored, with 37 attempts squandered at a strike rate of 7.5 per cent.

And the Carabao Cup challenge is already over following a 2-0 defeat to Leicester which saw them fail to take any of the 21 chances they created.

Just how badly the Liverpool forwards have been performing is brought into sharp contrast when their stats are compared to how opponents have done against them.

The Reds defence has given up 70 opportunities to rival teams in all competitions this seasons, conceding 16 goals in the process.

That means teams need to create five chances for every goal they score against Liverpool - half the amount Klopp's men need to hit the net.
