Ronald Koeman on the brink of losing his job after suffering a home defeat to Burnley in front of restless Everton supporters

RONALD KOEMAN’S job as Everton boss is hanging by a thread.
The Dutchman may only have one more game to save himself after yesterday’s defeat to Burnley made it four losses in five Prem matches.
Asked why results did not reflect the £142million spent this summer, Koeman snapped: “It is not in my hands but I try to get the best out of the players.
“If there is no commitment and no aggression that is maybe a reason to think about my future but I thank the players for their commitment today.
“I can’t complain about my players today, they did everything. Maybe we could create more but it is not so easy against Burnley.”
The Toffees were booed off by their fans at half-time and at the end of the game, which was won by Jeff Hendrick’s 21st-minute strike.
That leaves Everton two points and two places above the bottom three.
Koeman added: “It’s difficult to take for the players because they gave everything and it’s difficult to take for the fans. I understand whistles by half-time.”

The Dutchman was installed as 4-6 favourite to be the next Prem boss to leave his job.
He will face tough questions from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and the Goodison board during the international break.
Depending on how discussions go with the club’s hierarchy, Koeman might not even be around for Everton’s next game, the October 15 clash at Brighton.
Koeman has spent almost £210m in his 15 months on Merseyside.
But he is understood to be at odds with Director of Football Steve Walsh and chairman Bill Kenwright over the failure to bring in a top striker to replace Romelu Lukaku.
