Premier League clubs race to snap up fitness device after Manchester City introduced it to training centre
Irish inventor's BackBaller is set to revolutionise treatment for back pain, with ruby and NFL stars also on board
PREMIER LEAGUE clubs are scrambling to follow Manchester City's lead in using a new fitness device.
Irish inventor Noel Marshall’s BackBaller has been introduced at 13 clubs, with the Citizens the first to incorporate it at their state-of-the-art HQ.
The former athlete - who saw a promising career derailed by a chronic back-injury - has found a way to help sportsmen avoid a similar fate.
His BackBaller, which costs £53, is a dual-mounted foam roller which allows athletes to target the problem area.
Marshall told the Irish Sun On Sunday: “When it comes to injuries, I’ve had them all but the chronic back pain was what forced me to quit sport.
“I was on the physio table three times a week. One day I was watching these lads in the gym using the traditional rollers which are genius.
"But I just thought there might be room for improvement so we went with two rollers in a frame. Straight away, I knew this was something that worked.
“Man City was a big moment, the first order we have taken from a Premier League club, they ordered 60.”

Marshall’s list of clients now includes NFL outfits including the Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants.
Irish internationals James McClean, Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick and Stephen Ward also use the machine.
