'FANS DESERVE BETTER'

Ronald Koeman given dreaded vote of confidence by Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri after poor start to season

The Toffees lost 1-0 to Burnley at Goodison Park on Sunday as they picked up their fourth Premier League defeat of the season

RONALD KOEMAN will STAY as Everton manager after he received the backing of majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

The Toffees suffered their fourth Premier League defeat in just seven games after they lost to Burnley 1-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday - with the Dutchman's job under threat.

Everton have only notched in four top-flight goals all season, as Wayne Rooney netted twice in the opening two fixtures, before Oumar Niasse bagged a brace against Bournemouth on September 23.

Moshiri - who holds a 49.9% stake in the Merseyside club - has conceded that fans deserve better than what they are seeing so far.

They are yet to win in the Europa League group stages as they sit bottom of Group E - losing 3-0 to Atalanta before drawing 2-2 against Cypriot minnows Apollon Limassol.

And after the disappointing loss against the Clarets, Moshiri said: "We are in a bad moment. But we have played three of the four title contenders away.

"(Burnley) was the only unexpected loss. The four pre-qualifying UEFA games and two group games on Thursdays haven't helped.

"There is mental and physical fatigue and seven injuries.

"These are early days and Koeman has my total support. We have great fans and they deserve better.

"We know the honest and objective expectations of our supporters and will not let them down."

Everton spent big in the summer after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75million.

Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Sandro Ramirez were just some of the names brought in as the Toffees aimed for a Champions League place.

However, the only thing Everton fans are concerned about the moment is to avoid slipping down the table.

They currently sit in 16th spot - just two points above the relegation places.

Speaking after the defeat against Burnley, Koeman said: "I have experience and if you win, your life and your day is different.

"If you lose, of course it is not nice if you have two weeks in an international break and get a defeat today, but that is life and you have to accept it.

"But don't accept to sit back and wait. We will continue and I will try to do the best for my job. All the stuff and questions are not in my hands."
