Liverpool transfer news: Danny Ings vows to stay at Anfield and fight for his place amid Leeds interest

LIVERPOOL'S forgotten man Danny Ings has vowed to fight for his place under Jurgen Klopp after being linked with a move away.

The 25-year-old - a reported target of Leeds in January - has been rocked by knee injuries since moving to Anfield in 2015 from Burnley.

And as the striker works his way back to full fitness, Ings has insisted he still has a "big part to play" under Jurgen Klopp.

The one-cap England international told the Times: "When you are at a club like Liverpool, it is not a club that you want to walk away from.

"It would grate on me for the rest of my career, and the rest of my life, if I had not done everything to give it my all.

"I still feel like I have a big part to play in this football club.

"Everywhere I have been, I have always found a way to make it happen. I have been in a lot of tough situations at previous clubs where it has been hard to break in

"People from the outside looking in will probably have the assumption, ‘Oh, he’s the forgotten man’ but it has not crossed my mind at all.

"I still believe in myself. I still believe I can play in this team."

In three seasons in Merseyside, he has been restricted to just a mere 12 appearances in all competitions - netting three times - all of which coming in the 2014/15 campaign.

He played his first match in almost a year for Liverpool when he came on a second-half substitute in the 2-0 defeat against Leicester in the Carabao Cup in September.

However he is yet to feature in the Premier League this season.

But with Daniel Sturridge continuing to misfire, Klopp could be ready to hand the ex-Bournemouth star a rare start.
