Manchester United ace Marouane Fellaini limps off during Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Bosnia

MANCHESTER UNITED will be sweating over Marouane Fellaini after the midfielder limped off for Belgium against Bosnia.

The 29-year-old has been in inspired form for the Red Devils this season, as Jose Mourinho's sides injury woes continue.

Fellaini had to be substituted in the 29th minute at the Grbavica Stadium in a Group H World Cup qualifier.

The ex-Everton ace was replaced by Leander Dendoncker in the middle of the park after receiving treatment on his knee.

And to make matters worse for Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, just 40 seconds after he left the field, Haris Medunjanin equalised for the home side.

Then nine minutes later Bosnia took the lead through Edin Visca as the first half ended in despair for the group table-toppers.

Fellaini's injury will come as a huge blow for Mourinho as the huge Premier League clash with rivals Liverpool looms closer.

United already have a mini-crisis in their midfield with Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick both on the sidelines, leaving Ander Herrera to step up to the plate.

In eight matches in all competitions this campaign, Fellaini has netted on four occasions - including a brace against Crystal Palace last week.

And is has even been reported that he is set for a new contract at Old Trafford after his blistering start to the season.

United legend Ryan Giggs recently said of the big man: "Marouane Fellaini has really proved his importance, stepping in for Paul Pogba.

"He has scored important goals, as he did at Everton and I’m really pleased for him after taking a lot of stick over the years.

"I've worked with him and he's a great lad to train because he does exactly what you want.

“He hasn't let the fans bother him because he's always had the support of the players and the coaches.

"He is effective, knows his strengths and limitations, and he's somebody who Jose has put a lot of faith in and he has repaid that with some important goals."
