Liverpool star Emre Can calls Juventus’ latest offer ‘an honour’ as doubts linger over the future of contract rebel
Germany international out of contract at the end of the season and received tempting offer to move to Turin last summer
LIVERPOOL star Emre Can admits he was “honoured” to receive an offer from Juventus over the summer.
The Germany international is out of contract next summer and has given no indication he’s willing to stay at Anfield.
Juventus made a bid for Can in the last transfer window but the offer was rejected by Liverpool.
However, the Italians remain interested and are believed to be weighing up a January move when Can enters the final six months of his Merseyside deal.
And the 23-year-old has done little to allay Liverpool’s fears by admitting he was left flattered by Juventus’ approach.
Can said: “It’s always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club, but currently I am only focused on the season with Liverpool. My agent takes care of the rest.”
But the ace did add that he was open to staying in the Premier League, adding: “It’s just a really cool league, the most interesting in the world.
“But you must always respect other big clubs and leagues. You never know what will happen. And I don’t know what Jurgen Klopp plans.”
But Juventus aren’t the only team reportedly interested in Can, with Manchester United also said to be weighing up an audacious approach.
However, a deal would have to wait until next summer when the midfielder becomes a free agent, with Liverpool apparently unwilling to do any business with their rivals while Can remains under contract.
