Brighton, West Brom and Crystal Palace fighting it out for Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper
Hooper, 29, has grabbed 20 goals in 43 League starts for Wednesday who are currently 12th in the Championship
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY face a fight to keep striker Gary Hooper.
The former Celtic star is a January target for Crystal Palace, West Brom and Brighton having scored eight times this season.
Seven of those goals have come in the last seven games and Hooper – who arrived from Norwich for £3million in January 2016 – would cost about £6m.
Hooper, 29, has grabbed 20 goals in 43 League starts for Wednesday who are currently 12th in the Championship.
He netted twice in the Owl's 3-0 win against rivals Leeds earlier in the month.
Palace are in dire need of reinforcements after losing their seven Premier League games.
Hooper would be a welcome addition up front and could add the goal power needed to keep the Eagles up.
Roy Hodgson took over from the axed Frank de Boer but has yet to see any improvement in results.
West Brom are also on the hunt for a striker but have also been linked with a move for Benik Afobe.
Brighton could also make a move for Hooper, while a move for Newcastle outcast Aleksandar Mitrovic could be on the cards.
