Aguero, who has been pictured in City training this week, had been in the Netherlands to watch a pop concert but suffered the serious injury after a late night accident.

It was initially feared that Aguero would miss months but the Daily Mirror claim he will be ready to return on Sunday.

Meanwhile, flat cap wearing Pep Guardiola has taken total football to a "new level".

That's the opinion of Italy legend Arrigo Sacchi.

The Manchester City boss, who put his players through their paces ahead of Sunday's clash with Stoke, is "making football better".

Sacchi in charge of the dominant AC Milan side of the late 1980s, winning a title and the European Cup in back to back seasons in 1989 and 1990.

He was also a missed Roberto Baggio penalty away from leading Italy to a World Cup win in 1994.

The 71-year-old, speaking at the Aspire for Sport Congress at Stamford Bridge, said: "[Guardiola] has carried forward total football even more.

"He is adding to it, making it better.

"He is a great coach and Manchester City play in his way with a real style.

"We’re friends. We’ve known each other for a long time. He came to see how I worked when I was at Real Madrid.

"He’s an obsessive, a perfectionist, he thinks deeply about football.

"He’s one of the top ten coaches since the 1950s who have contributed to the evolution of football.

"He’s in the tradition of Ajax’s Rinus Michels and Cruyff. My football is a belief in total football. It comes from Ajax.

"Guardiola once said to me, 'I owe everything to you and Cruyff'. I said to him, 'Without Rinus Michels, there would have been no Cruyff and no Guardiola today.'"

Sacchi also revealed he is a fan of the Premier League - and regrets not coaching in England.

"It’s a very exacting league," he added. "Manchester City are now going at 100mph but it’s difficult to maintain this rhythm, this pace, until May.

"Manchester United are dangerous. And Liverpool.

"I watched Chelsea vs Manchester City and it seemed like a different sport. It was an extraordinary match, one of the best I’ve ever seen. Fantastic.

"In my next life, I want to coach in England!"
