JAN VERTONGHEN feels very fortunate to be team-mates with both Romelu Lukaku AND Harry Kane.

Vertonghen captained Belgium in Tuesday night’s 4-0 win over Cyprus, when Lukaku came on to score his 16th goal in 13 games this season.

The defender is now back at Spurs to team up again with Kane, who netted two in the international break.

Tottenham striker Kane has 15 goals in his last ten games and Vertonghen admits he is lucky to normally only face the deadly duo in training.

But he is already quaking in his boots about dealing with Lukaku when Spurs visit Manchester United  at Old Trafford in a fortnight.

Vertonghen, 30, said: “I don’t want to face either — at any time!

“I’ve got them both in my team, so that’s something.

“But in two weeks I have to face Romelu, so I will need my fellow centre-backs.

Romelu is in great form. His goal against Cyprus was typical  — a ball in behind and he held off a couple of defenders and finished.

“Harry is special as well. I can’t find the words to describe them enough. It’s very difficult to split them.

“I think they will keep playing for the Golden Boot until the last game of the season like last year.”

Lukaku missed Belgium’s 4-3 win in Bosnia last weekend with an ankle injury.

But his return is a timely boost for his club boss Jose Mourinho ahead of United’s visit to Liverpool on Saturday.

Vertonghen said: “He was actually injured. His ankle wasn’t in good shape. But he used the first week of the international break to get fit.”

Vertonghen is now Belgium’s most-capped player on 97 appearances.

He added: “To break the record is something to cherish, and I will.

“I can’t imagine not playing for the national team so, as long as I can, I will.”
