Sergio Aguero admits Lionel Messi to Manchester City would be ‘quite complicated’ but adds he’d ‘love’ Barcelona star at Etihad
Pep Guardiola wants to lure Messi from Barcelona from January in a world-record deal as he nears end of contract
SERGIO AGUERO admits he’d “love” to play alongside Lionel Messi at Manchester City.
But the Argentine ace adds that a deal to sign his compatriot from boyhood club Barcelona will be “quite complicated.”
Reports claim Messi is being lined up for a world-record £357million switch to the Etihad in January.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season.
And despite Barcelona claiming an agreement has been struck, Messi is yet to put pen-to-paper on the deal.
City are apparently keen to make an audacious attempt for the ace, widely regarded as one of the best-ever players in history.
And international team-mate Aguero is one City star who would love to have Messi alongside him in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI.
However, the striker concedes it could be difficult trying to lure the Barcelona “symbol” from Catalonia, telling TyC Sport: “The money isn’t a problem here.
“But I think Messi, like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, are players who are symbols of their clubs and it’s difficult for them to leave.
“I would love to have Leo on my team, but that seems quite complicated.”
