Manchester United ‘hopeful Paul Pogba will return early’ from hamstring injury

PAUL Pogba could be back in action for Manchester United a lot sooner than expected.

SunSport understands that the Manchester United midfielder will be out until closer to Christmas - but a contradictory report claims he will be back in two weeks.

The Independent claim Pogba, who has been out with a hamstring injury he picked up on September 12, is now targeting a comeback on October 24.

Jose Mourinho said before the international break that he feared the injury would be "long term".

The French midfielder has missed the last five United games since limping out of the Champions League clash with Basel.

United have fared fine without him - winning all of their games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just two.

But record signing Pogba is one of Mourinho's key men and the club have some huge tests on the horizon.

The report claims Pogba will return for the game against Swansea City.

United then face a tough slate of games, with Tottenham Hotspur, Benfica, Chelsea and Newcastle their four games after that.

Pogba has been recovering well after being sent to the US to get his fitness back.

He has filmed himself dancing and on a treadmill, uploading videos to social media, while he has also been pictured going through a gruelling fitness regime.

However, SunSport understands the club has graver concerns.

They have a fitness coach working with him on a daily basis but fear he will not be back on the pitch until closer to Christmas.
