But Spurs are not the only club to have become aware of the prospect - with London rivals West Ham also taking a keen interest.

The Hammers know they need to bring in some younger players to their squad in the future after investing heavily in experience over the last year.

They also need to add some pace and wing play to their squad with speed going forward lacking in most of their players.

Bournemouth are the other top flight side who have been tracking Bergwijn as Eddie How continues to look for promising new talent to take to the south coast.

Howe is aware he cannot stand still in terms of building his squad now they are in their third year in the Premier League.

And Bergwijn would fit the profile of a player he would be interested in.

PSV know they will find it hard to keep hold of the wide man if serious interest from the Premier League came in, although they would try to hold out for a fee of around £18million.

Bergwijn's current deal with the club runs until the end of the 2021 season, so PSV know they have a position of strength in any transfer negotiations.
