Alli helped children build bears, decorate biscuits and colour in decorations to jazz up the children's bedsides, all to bring some much needed fun and distraction.

The event, held to celebrate National Play in Hospitals Week, was organised by Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity with the play specialist team at Evelina London Children's Hospital.

Alli said: “I had a great afternoon with Rays of Sunshine at their Activity Day at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

"It was a pleasure to meet such amazing families and children.”

Among the children were 17-year-old Billy, who is currently living with Hypertension and 16-year-old Luke, who is currently living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Both are massive football fans and were delighted to meet the superstar and spend some time chatting to him and discussing all things football.

Billy said: “I was told that someone was coming for a visit but I had no idea who it was until he arrived. I recognised Dele Alli straight away and was completely shocked.

"I’m a huge footy fan and have seen him play at my local football club, Middlesbrough.

"We had a great chat about football and made a soft toy each.

"Dele made a pink cat and named it after his brother, Harry, then gave it to me to give to my mum for her birthday.

"It was nice to spend a bit of time off the ward and take my mind off things, it’s an afternoon I’ll always remember."

Alli is an ambassador for the children's charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill children by granting their wishes, granting hospital ward wishes and organising large scale events for children living with life-limiting illnesses.

In his role as Rays of Sunshine ambassador he regularly gives up his time to grant wishes and attend events.
