Mauricio Pochettino blasts Pep Guardiola as ‘sad’ and ‘disrespectful’ after describing Tottenham as ‘Harry Kane’ team
TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino has blasted rival manager Pep Guardiola as "sad" and "disrespectful".
It comes after the Manchester City boss labelled Spurs the "Harry Kane team".
Speaking today ahead of Spurs' home game at Wembley against Bournemouth, Pochettino reacted angrily to comments made by his Spanish rival.
He said: "I know Pep and when he is excited after an amazing win, he struggles to keep his position and be a gentleman.
"But what he said was disrespectful to many. It did not affect me but was very disrespectful for many people.
"[Guardiola] was part of the big success at Barcelona with Messi at his best and I never said it was ‘the Lionel Messi team’.
“I think many people took those words as very disrespectful for the club and for many players here it is a strange situation.
“That is my opinion like I respect his opinion. Are the players more or less motivated now? I think it’s the same.
"It’s sad and it is not right in football. Today we want to show some respect, fair play and everything."
Guardiola made his sly dig at Spurs after their star man netted another brace in their 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

"Of course this season they play in Europe. It's a little more complicated for all the teams.
"We have United [and] the Harry Kane team who scores every game two or three goals."
