Everton boss Ronald Koeman does not want Holland job after Netherlands failed to reach 2018 World Cup

RONALD KOEMAN is not surprised he has been linked with the Holland job despite dragging Everton into a relegation fight after a summer transfer splurge.

Dick Advocaat left the Netherlands post after they failed to qualify for the 2018 Russia World Cup and the pool of individually talented players are now rudderless.

Ex-Barcelona star Koeman is in the running to take charge of the struggling national side but he insists he is not interested in taking charge of his nation.

Toffees boss Koeman said: “I am not surprised they put my name is in because they did the same some years ago.

“I am not surprised. But I am Everton manager. That's the most important and nothing else.

“It's not realistic now because we have other business to do with Everton.

The Dutch manager believes the once-formidable Holland team – famed for Total Football - is failing because the Eredivise cannot hold of its top stars.

Even Ajax find it tough to keep their top talents in Holland and Koeman believes the mass emigration is killing the team.

Premier League stars like Daley Blind, Nathan Ake, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum are in the squad but their individual talents do not gel on the intermational stage.

Koeman said :“We lost quality in the competition in Holland. We lost quality. We don't have the top European players anymore.

“Arjen Robben was maybe the last and he has stopped for the national team.

“Yes we have some really talented players but the whole competition in Holland, the young players go too fast abroad.

“We need to change. We had a great time, with big players and we dropped quality.

“Countries like Belgium and of course Germany and they change around it.

“We need to react but we will come back because we bring always good football players.”
