Romelu Lukaku’s first touch against Liverpool came in the 17th minute
The Manchester United striker was completely shut out at the start of fierce clash at Anfield
ROMELU LUKAKU needed more than 16 minutes to get his first touch of the ball against Liverpool.
The Manchester United striker was completely shut out at the start of the fierce clash at Anfield.
And it was not until the 17th minute - 16mins and 22secs in to be exact - that he first got hold of the ball.
The big Belgian, who has scored 11 goals in ten games for United so far this season, did eventually grow into the game.
But not before one Twitter user cheekily replied "what time did it end?" to a post about Lukaku's touch.
And even then the best chance of a frenetic first half fell to Nemanja Matic.
It was the Serbian who let loose with a long range effort that flew just over.
Jurgen Klopp insisted ahead of kick-off that he always knew Lukaku would become "world class".
But even he was surely surprised by the striker's lack of involvement.
In truth, the United player was arguably lucky to be on the pitch at all after some viewers claimed he stamped on Dejan Lovren.
