'Strong team'

Tottenham star Christian Eriksen warns Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane that the north Londoners can score from anywhere

Eriksen netted winner against Bournemouth at Wembley to disprove Pep Guardiola's theory that Spurs are 'Harry Kane team'

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN is warning Zinedine Zidane he had better not make the same mistake about Tottenham as Pep Guardiola did.

Guardiola calling Spurs “the Harry Kane team” was a bad joke gone wrong. And the England star proved it is not the case by having a poor game in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

But a first Premier League win at Wembley boosted Mauricio Pochettino’s men ahead of their Champions League crunch with Zidane’s Real Madrid.

Pep’s pop came as England star Kane hit 13 goals for club and country in a red-hot September.

But Eriksen got Saturday’s winner, then told the reigning European champions they would be wrong to assume Spurs are all about King Harry.

Eriksen said: “No one wants to be called a one-man team, if it is meant seriously. I don’t know if it was.

“It is a team game and if you have respect you probably don’t say it. It maybe was a joke but I don’t know.

“It is all about the team. Of course with the chances he gets Harry has a greater chance of scoring. He will score goals and we will help him score.

“But we have a strong enough team that if Harry doesn’t score then someone else will. Anyone is good enough to finish. This time the ball fell for me, but it was a team performance.”

Eriksen, 25, joined Spurs from Ajax for £11.5million in 2013 — part of the club’s spending spree after getting £86m from Real for Gareth Bale.

The Danish playmaker added: “We have built steadily over the last few seasons, but it feels like it has been almost the same team every season.

“We know each other very, very well. There is a strong connection with all the players and a good feeling going into the training ground and the games. We have built something special and I hope people can see that.”

Spurs won their first two games in Group H and boss Poch says his team will not hide at the Bernabeu.

The Argentine said: “We will try to dominate but it’s a massive challenge for us to dominate them.

“We will press high, try to play in the opposition’s half, try to be aggressive and brave. That’s how we feel football should be played. If they try to push us back deeper, then OK we may have to adapt to their quality.

“But from the beginning we will be brave and aggressive and play to win. It’s a good opportunity for us.

I’m so excited to go and put on a performance. It’s Real Madrid and we respect them, but we’ll go to play.”

Poch also resisted the temptation to single out Real megastar Cristiano Ronaldo — much like Pep did Kane.

He added: “We’re not just playing Real Madrid with the best player in the world.  They have lots of very good players.

“Their squad is amazing and they have a very good manager. But you need contributions from the whole squad to win titles.”
