Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants huge pay-rise to sign new long-term contract
JOSE MOURINHO wants a pay rise at Manchester United if he is to sign a new contract, according to reports.
The Portuguese super-boss is in line for a new deal and feels he has a strong hand, given his strong start to life as Old Trafford boss.
But the two-time Champions League winner wants the deal to reflect his status as one of the world's best managers.
Mourinho, 54, earns around £15million a year and won two trophies in his first year at United, including the League Cup and the Europa League.
And after United's strong start to this term, he is keen to capitalise on the momentum by demanding Ed Woodward adds all the bells and whistles to his new deal.
What would interest United fans is how Woodward plans to balance Mourinho's basic salary and any incentives, such as winning the Premier League title or a dream Champions League victory.

SunSport reported last week that Mourinho is set to be offered a bumper new pay deal, but he is yet to see a draft of the contract, according to reports yesterday.
Now it appears that the former Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid coach is attempting to make Woodward think twice about offering him anything less than a big deal.
United face Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday as Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic return to the scene of their former club.
Mourinho was also the manager of Benfica for a brief spell in 2000, but had a falling out with the board and upped sticks to Uniao de Leira before heading to Porto in 2002, where he went on to win the Europa League and Champions League.
