He is out of contract in November and could leave after the next international break when he takes the Welsh to France.

SunBets price Coleman at 5/1 for the job, with the second favourite being current Leicester assistant boss Michael Appleton at 6/1.

The former Manchester United youngster and ex-Portsmouth and Oxford United coach is expected to be handed the caretaker role after Shakespeare's sacking on Tuesday.

He is joined in the top three early frontrunners by a familiar face from his days at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs (8/1) is still searching for his first job in management and SunBets believe he is in with a great chance of taking over at the King Power Stadium.

The rest of the consists of a number of big names with Republic of Ireland's Martin O'Neill (12/1) and former Chelsea managers Carlo Ancelotti and Guus Hiddink also in the running.

BARD NEWS Craig Shakespeare sacked by Leicester with club slumped in Premier League relegation zone

Frank de Boer, axed by Premier League rivals Crystal Palace earlier in the campaign, and recently-departed Scotland chief Gordon Strachan are also listed among the faves.

Former manager Nigel Pearson is an outside bet at 16/1, while title-winning Claudio Ranieri is not in the running.

Leicester's favourite son, Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker, is an outsider at long odds of 100/1.

Shakespeare paid the price for his club's poor start to the season with the side currently slumped third from bottom in the Prem.

He was hauled in for a meeting by club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha today after the club's 1-1 draw at home to West Brom last night.

And the Thai owner made it clear that one win from the opening eight matches of the season was not good enough.

Shakespeare, 53, was only given the job on a permanent basis four months ago having taken charge on an interim basis following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri in February.

But he failed to maintain the improved level in performance of the side and has paid with his job.

The club decided they needed to make the change, fearing the players were not responding to their manager as they face up to a battle to avoid relegation.
