Benjamin Mendy compares Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson to brick wall after penalty save and updates joke after he concedes
Napoli top scorer Dries Mertens had his first-half spot-kick saved by the Brazilian but Amadou Diawara scored his effort
MANCHESTER CITY hero Benjamin Mendy has continued his climb up the social media rankings with some Tweets on Ederson’s penalty efforts against Napoli.
When the Brazilian blocked spot-kick in the first half, the injured France international said his City team-mate was brick wall with a couple of dead-end road signs.
But when the Etihad ‘keeper had his goal breached with 17 minutes remaining, he posted a photo of the brick wall with a ball-shaped hole the exact spot Amadou Diawara scored.
City were comfortable after early goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus but Kyle Walker held down Raul Albiol in the box to concede a needless penalty.
Top scorer Dries Mertens’ effort was woeful, drilled with no venom straight down the middle, and after Ederson blocked with his legs, Fernandinho dived in to finish the job.
Mendy reached straight for his smart phone and had his 522,000 followers laughing along with his comparison.
And he posted an update after Fernandinho hung out a lazy leg, Faouzi Ghoulam went over it, and Diawara took over spot kick duties successfully.
Mendy is a huge hit with City fans, following his summer move and his serious knee injury has not stopped him connecting with supporters online.

The full-back has already amused and annoyed a few followers – especially after he made a gag about an own-goal from Brighton’s Lewis Dunk - but he has no interest in changing.
Mendy said: “Maybe I shouldn’t have tweeted it there and then.
“But that’s the way I am, I like to share things automatically.
Maybe the sarcasm was too much.
“It wasn’t meant to be said with any bad intent at all and I was pulled up on it.”
