MANCHESTER UNITED may have been dealt a major injury blow as Marcus Rashford limped off injured against Benfica.

England star Rashford was replaced by Anthony Martial in the 1-0 win at the Estadio da Luz and looked like he was in a lot of discomfort.

After limping off the pitch, the teenager briefly spoke with manager Jose Mourinho before heading off down the tunnel.

After the game, Mourinho said that Rashford picked up a knee injury.

The Portuguese said: "He felt something in his knee, hopefully it's nothing serious."

Rashford, 19, had earlier given Mourinho's team the lead after a goalkeeping error by Benfica keeper Mile Svilar.

The United forward over-hit a long cross into the box straight into the hands of Svilar.

But the youngster - who beat Iker Casillas' record to become the youngest keeper in the Champions League at 18 years, 52 days - took up an awful position.

He caught the long cross, but his momentum carried him backwards and into the goal.

United went on to win 1-0 at the Estadio da Luz.

Svilar looked close to tears at full-time, but was consoled by United striker Romelu Lukaku, who had a long chat with the keeper in an attempt to console him.

The hard-fought victory, which came after a solid defensive performance that didn't see United create many chances, means the side have one foot in the knockout stages.

They have a maximum nine points from nine, putting them three ahead of Basel, who beat CSKA Moscow.
