Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho ‘in no hurry’ to sign contract extension

Old Trafford chiefs are keen to tie down the Special One on a £65m five-year deal after a strong start

JOSE MOURINHO is reportedly in no hurry to sign a contract extension at Manchester United.

SunSport exclusively revealed Old Trafford chiefs had tabled a £65million deal as they aim to tie down the Special One long term.

And ESPN claims Mourinho will take his time to decide on the terms, with plenty of time remaining on his current contract.

The Portuguese is signed up until 2019 and is looking to build on a solid debut season which saw him lift the Europa League and League Cup.

United are two points behind Manchester City in the title race and top their Champions League group after three wins from three.

Mourinho caused a stir last week when he claimed he would not finish his career at Old Trafford while praising Paris Saint-Germain.

And he repeated the claims before the 1-0 win over Benfica, explaining it was only because he did not see a repeat of the longevity of Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger.

The ex-Chelsea boss, 54, said: "I was asked 'how is it possible in modern football that any manager is going to last 15 to 20 years in the same club?'.

"I think it is impossible to last for so long.

"If, in this moment, I wanted to finish my career in two, three, four or five years then I would say yes, I want to finish my career with Manchester United."
