Manchester United transfer news: Barcelona send scouts to watch Anthony Martial during clash with Benfica
The 21-year-old Red Devils winger has already netted on five occasions this season - catching the interest of the La Liga table-toppers
BARCELONA are keeping tabs on Manchester United star Anthony Martial after Robert Fernandez watched the winger in action against Benfica.
The 21-year-old has impressed this season under Jose Mourinho, where he has netted five times in 11 games in all competitions.
And according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan clubs sporting director was in attendance in Portugal to watch the Red Devils' Champions League clash on Wednesday.
However, Martial failed to have an impact on the match as he came on for the last 14 minutes to replace the injured Marcus Rashford.
It was Rashford who proved to be the hero for United at Estadio da Luz, as goalkeeper Mile Svilar walked his free-kick beyond the goal-line to gift the English side a 1-0 win.
The report states that the French international is one of Barca's top transfer targets, though United are believed to be determined to keep him at all costs.
Fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal have been reported to be keen on bringing Martial to the Emirates.
Compatriot Arsene Wenger has identified him as the perfect replacement to Alexis Sanchez, and is willing to fork out £50million for his services.
