THEO WALCOTT could afford a smile after Arsenal came through after an intimidating night unscathed in Belgrade.

The young Gunners showed the 'cojones' they had been accused of lacking by grabbing a 1-0 win at Red Star.

And Walcott was so pleased with how the evening had gone that he posted a picture of himself with riot police at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.

The forward captioned it: "Team well looked after this evening."

As Arsene Wenger reflected on a remarkable night's work in the Serbian capital he insisted: "It's not easy to express that kind of character at 18.

"To play like that in such a heated atmosphere shows how much resistance to stress they have. And that is an important quality at this level.

"We have shown remarkable spirit overall, fighting together to win a game that was very physical.

"We defended very well, with a lot of determination, and our goal was the consequence of always wanting to play through them and to keep going for the victory."
